Downloads & updates
Flywrite is a Mac app you download once — after that it keeps itself up to date automatically while your license is active.
Downloading the current version
You can always get the latest version of Flywrite from two places:
- Your account — the download link is on your License page, the first page you see after signing in.
- Your welcome email — the email you received after purchase includes a download link.
macOS says the app "is damaged"?
It isn't — macOS shows this message for downloaded apps that aren't yet notarized by Apple. After moving Flywrite to your Applications folder, run this one command in Terminal, then open the app normally:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Flywrite.app
You only need to do this once per install.
What's new in each release
Every version's new features, improvements, and fixes are listed on the public release notes page.
How auto-updates work
The app checks for updates when it launches and once a day while running. When a new version is available, it downloads and installs automatically — you don't need to visit your account or re-download anything.
You can also check manually at any time via "Check for Updates…" in the app menu.
Updates require an active license
Auto-updates are delivered while your license is active or in its payment grace period. If your subscription has ended, the app stops receiving updates (and switches to read-only mode) until you renew — see Licenses & devices.
